Jesus is the Life
John 1:4 “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” We can consider two words in this text as very important. The first one is “Life”, and the second one is “Light”. We all try to take care of our lives, and there is a survivor instinct in all of us. If we sense danger somewhere near, we avoid getting near that place. Why do we try to take care of our lives? Our life is precious and we only have one. Each minute that goes by never comes back, each moment we live stay behind. The only things we have about the past are memories.
The Bible says that in Jesus we have life, and if we believe what the Bible says then we need to learn more about Jesus. Yes, we want to take care of our lives, but the Bible talks about the spiritual life. This sounds very interesting and I want to learn more about what the Bible has to say about it.
Abundant Life - John 10:10 “the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
Life for the Dead - John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.”
The way, the Truth, and the Life - John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”
Immortality Through the Gospel - 2 Timothy 1:10 “But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life, and immortality to light through the gospel.”
The Only Source of Life - 1 John 5:12 “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
From all these, we can realize that the same way we take care of our lives, God wants to take care of our lives also. This is the reason why Jesus died on the cross, so we can have a happy life and an eternal life. You must remember that Jesus is the only one who gives life.
